Hey, you.
You’re finally awake.
As a Human Being, I value learning over knowing, being comfortable in discomfort, and the humans around me.

As a UI Designer, I create intuitive and useful UI based on the needs of my target personas.
As a UX Designer, I create arcs of feedback to engage users through their actions.

As an Encounter Designer, I create engaging objectives that teach and/or challenge game mechanics.
As a Level Designer, I enjoy introducing mechanical and narrative elements through engaging tutorials.
I'm Dylan Fair. I am a Game Designer.
The first videogame I ever played was Super Mario Bros. on the NES, but the first time I found a passion for videogames was when my family started playing Crash Bandicoot.

We would take turns passing the controller around after dying, which made me realize that games can bring people together and entertain all kinds of people.

As soon as I was old enough to realize jobs existed and people could pay their bills by making games, I knew that's what I wanted to do with my life.

Since then, I thought of games to play at recess, sketched level layouts for my fingers to run across, and listened to everyone I could about making games.

I support the people around me

To me, this cake represents a celebration of my first step towards becoming a game designer and doing something I love with my life.

I got this cake (and wrote this letter) because my professor, Victor Cecci, mentioned that our game teams should take a moment to celebrate creating a game together.

Instantly I thought, "why not celebrate with all the other teams, too?" I think one of the most important things people can do is lift each other up and celebrate everyone's achievements, so I try to live by doing that.

For those who are curious, this cake was made The Cakewalk Shop in Everett, WA... and it was delicious.
I was in the U.S. Air Force

I was enlisted in the United States Air Force from 2015 - 2020.
During this time, I went on a deployment to Jordan and a few TDYs to Florida.
Throughout my time in the Air Force, I experienced high-stress environments, with widely varied stressors between stateside and overseas locations. I had to constantly adapt with little to no notice, which has helped me handle many different aspects in life. Most importantly, I made sure to have a good time with the people around me, no matter what.
This experience helps me keep the big picture in mind during stressful situations.

I think I'm funny
